What should I do if there’s a drip from the Temperature & Pressure Relief Valve on my Whirlpool Hybrid Electric Heat Pump Water Heater?

WARNING: Do not plug or cap the T&P discharge pipe. This can lead to dangerous pressure build-up.

Possible Cause: Excessive water pressure. What To Do: Check the water supply inlet pressure. If it’s higher than 80 PSIG, consider installing a pressure-reducing valve. A pressure of 50-60 PSIG is recommended.

Possible Cause: Need to add or service a thermal expansion tank. What To Do: Refer to the “Closed System/Thermal Expansion” section in the manual for guidance.

Possible Cause: The Temperature & Pressure Relief Valve is not functioning. What To Do: Replace the Temperature & Pressure Relief Valve.
